Look for a book new to you from one of the Reading Lists on the Library Web site.
Written Response:
• Write 1 paragraph for each book.
Choose one of the 2 topics below:
Write a hamburger paragraph on this topic:
Explain how one of the characters in your book demonstrates one of the seven Pillars of Character. Mention the pillar and the character’s name in the “top bun.” Give at least two specific examples from the story.
Write a hamburger paragraph on this topic:
Explain how one of the characters in your book demonstrates one of the heart attitudes. The heart attitudes include, but are not limited to: Compassion, Friendliness, Gratitude, Openness, Generosity, Forgiveness, Inclusivity, Enthusiasm, Perseverance, and Creativity. Mention the heart attitude and the character’s name in the “top bun.” Give at least two specific examples from the story.
Write a brief answer to one or both of the following questions.
Artistic Response:
• Art is optional but encouraged.
Due dates:
• 4th graders do not have not set due dates for the 3 responses. Try to space them throughout the year so that they don’t all need to be done at once. ALL WORK IS DUE BY END OF THE FIRST WEEK IN MAY.

Both Mr. Hickman and Mrs. Young want to emphasize that now that you are in 4th grade, you must do these things YOURSELF!
